Do Try This at Home: A Week of Cool, Colorful Eye Looks With Marta Pozzan

Byrdie

We’ve always known that in times of high stress and anxiety, indulging in beauty is the opposite of frivolous—it can be a mood-boosting tool, a form of self-care, self-expression, armor, rebellion, comfort, and a simple source of joy. And, from home, we’ve been able to form new and perhaps more meaningful connections to our own beauty and wellness rituals.

As a sought after beauty and fashion content creator—working with brands like Kosas, Estee Lauder, and Marc Jacobs—Marta Pozzan knows a thing about creating a captivating beauty look. And for the model and actress, playing around with colorful eyeshadow has been of her favorite makeup-related pastimes as of late. Ahead, the L.A.-based Italian beauty shares a week’s worth of cool, colorful eyeshadow looks she created with MUA Mina Abramovic as part of our series, Do Try This at Home.

I love a good bronze and glowy look especially for the summer but I’m not so used to wear neutral colors only on my eyes, so I liked the idea of matching the bronze with a light metallic purple to give it an edgier look.

For all five looks, Mina Abramovic used the Kosas Tinted Face Oil Foundation ($42), Kosas Revealer Concealer Super Creamy + Brightening Concealer ($28), Kosas The Sun Show Moisturizing Baked Bronzer ($34), Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara ($27), Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Primer, and the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder ($39). To create this bronze and purple look, she used the Kosas 10 Second Eyeshadow in Globe and Cool Lavender. She applied the Kosas Weightless Lip Color Lipstick ($28) in Vegas and the Kosas Wet Lip Oil Gloss ($27) in Malibu.

I’m a big fan of colorful eye makeup and lately, I’ve been playing a lot with lines and bright eyeshadow pencils. It’ such a fun, glam, retro vibe.

Abramovic created this blue eye with the Kosas 10 Second Eyeshadow ($28) in Nitrogen.

I started wearing light blue eyeshadow since February after an editorial shoot I did where I was wearing a super gentle yet bright turquoise blue eyeshadow on my eyes. Since I don’t have blue eyes, I didn’t think I could pull it off but it turns out it became one of my go-to looks along with a simple black cat-eye.

This light blue look was created with the Kosas 10 Second Eyeshadow ($28 in Waterfall. For my peachy-nude lip, Abramovic applied the Kosas Weightless Lip Color Lipstick ($28)

I’m always down for a good smoky eye and I’ve been exploring so many fun ways to make it more unique—this darker purple Kosas eyeshadow is perfect for it.

For my eyes, Abramovic used the Kosas 10 Second Eyeshadow ($28) in Cool Lavender With the Kosas Wet Lip Oil Gloss ($27) in Jellyfish on the top. She applied the Kosas Wet Lip Oil Gloss ($27) in Dip.

“Green Eyes” is one of my favorite Coldplay songs and this look definitely reminded me of that. Mina and I went for a more geometrical and structured shape here and added some yellow, blue, and gold to the eyelid and the corners. Very David Bowie!

This green eye look was created with the Urban Decay X Kristen Leanne Kaleidoscope Dream Eyeshadow Palette. Abramovic used a MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil ($18) in Oak and a Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick in JK Magic ($37)
