Despite how they’ve risen in popularity, I’ve never tried a natural or aluminum-free deodorant. So, now that the weather is warming up and I’m in desperate need of a new stick, I decided it was time to give them a shot.
Enter Dove’s 0% Aluminum Deodorant, which claims to provide 48-hour odor protection (honestly, I’d settle for eight) and moisturize the skin while doing so. Does it live up to these lofty goals? Keep reading for my experience with Dove’s 0% Aluminum Deodorant.
BEST FOR: All skin types
USES: Odor protection and softening the underarms
ABOUT THE BRAND: Dove launched in 1957 with its iconic beauty cleansing bar. Today, the brand is known worldwide for skincare offerings for the whole family, including shampoos, lotions, and deodorants.
About My Underarms: Rarely Sweaty
I don’t feel like I sweat under my arms often (it usually happens when I’m really nervous or spend time in the hot weather). Even when I work out, my face and back sweat more than my underarms. As a result, I don’t wear deodorant daily, but I try to make it a habit in the summer when I’m spending so much more time outside. I wear a lot of black clothing, so I usually use a spray or a gel deodorant.
The Feel: Silky smooth
The Dove 0% Aluminum Deodorant looks like any other stick deodorant, but once you glide it onto your skin, it’s invisible, nonsticky, and slides right on. I was so happy about this. Another plus: It did not leave any residue at all.
The Results: Fresh and soft underarms
I used the Dove 0% Aluminum Deodorant Stick daily for three weeks. Upon first use, I was surprised by how smooth my underarms felt. I applied the stick at 8 a.m. before going to work, and at 3 p.m., the fresh scent was still present. By 9:30 p.m., the freshness had slightly decreased, but it still kept me smelling good, and my underarms were feeling smooth. I didn’t have to reapply, which was fantastic, and it did an excellent job of controlling odor.
This stick moisturized and smoothed my underarms after regular use. Plus, the more I used it, the more evident the odor-busting abilities became. I no longer had to worry about strong or unpleasant odors, even after my HIIT class.
The Value: A steal
The Dove 0% Aluminum Deodorant Stick is priced similarly to other drugstore deodorants, ranging from $6-$8, depending on the retailer. This, my friend, is a steal. I was worried about using an aluminum-free deodorant, but I had the best experience with this one. My underarms feel moisturized, and the odor control is impressive. If you’re not a fan of the stick format, a spray version is also available.
